The biggest challenge in EPL rankings is predicting lineups. This season my predicted starters have been right 87% of the time, on par with the best lineup predictions available.
To close that gap, I’ve added a new feature: the rankings now update automatically when each team announces its lineup, usually about an hour before kickoff. Check back then for the most up-to-date rankings.
Last week is a good example. Kevin Danso (Sunderland, D) was ranked 20th, which surprised some people since almost nobody owns him, but he didn’t play. Luke O’Nien started in his place and scored 16.25 points. With this update, Danso would have dropped and O’Nien would have moved up before kickoff.
Once a team’s lineup is announced, each of its players gets a tag next to his team’s name:
XI: in the starting lineup
SUB: on the bench
OUT: not in the matchday squad
This is the first week it’s live, so think of it as a beta. If a team’s rankings don’t update after its lineup is announced, that’s a bug, and I’ll fix it before next week.
